The Master of Architecture program is focused on appreciation of the significance of design, an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the discipline and the vital importance of a close relationship with the landscape architecture profession. Additionally the interdisciplinary nature of practice is emphasised though close contact and shared courses with landscape architecture and urban design students.

Applied Linguistics is the study of how language is used in the service of ‘doing life’. Applied linguists are interested to explore the connection between language, culture and knowledge; between discourse, belief and behaviour. Students in the program are introduced to the system of the English language, and examine the role of language in human communication; the way people use language to interact with one another and their environment; first language and additional language development; the preservation and revival of languages. The program offers a TESOL strand in which students may choose to focus on the teaching and learning of English as a major element in their program.

Project Management is a cross-disciplinary field that is vital for innovative activity in organisations and industries. Traditionally Project Management has played an important role in defence, aerospace, construction and engineering. Increasingly Project Management is being applied in areas such as IT, banking and finance, disaster relief recovery, climate change, telecommunications and mining.

The Master of Accounting and Marketing provides comprehensive studies across the related fields of accounting and marketing. It is designed to meet the needs of entrants from either a relevant degree seeking in-depth advancement in their field and an associated field, or from a non-relevant degree seeking to comprehensively adapt to the new fields of accounting and marketing.

Laser diagnostic techniques have greatly contributed for our understanding of complex phenomena. Turbulent flow, gas combustion and Plasma are some examples of such complex systems. The Non-intrusive nature of the laser radiation allows precise probing, with high temporal and special resolution, without interfering with the flow. The department of Chemical Engineering has a well equipped laser diagnostics laboratory with several lasers and time gated cameras. Some of these lasers were custom designed to perform specific measurement. Several advanced diagnostics techniques and measurements have been tested and developed, these summarised by the following: ■Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence. ■Planar Laser Polarisation Spectroscopy ■Planar Laser Induced Incandescence ■Planar Velocity Measurement ■Planer Temperature Measurements ■Chemical Species concentration in reactive flows

The Graduate Diploma in Translation and Transcultural Communication is an inter-disciplinary program designed for students fluent in both Chinese and English seeking a career as a professional translator. The program is approved by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma program and achieve the required level of performance in the relevant assessment will be recommended by the University of Adelaide for NAATI Translator accreditation at the professional level. The program provides rigorous training in translation skills whilst fostering intercultural communicative competence, building strength in critical and analytical thinking, research capacity and problem-solving strategies.
